It's interesting how people tend to avoid poetry because they view it as old-fashioned and uninteresting. Poetry is often seen as a relic of the distant past with little relevance in today's literary world.
However, many popular song lyrics, fairy tales, children's stories, and commercial jingles are poetic in nature and presentation. Despite this fact, most people still have little interest in poetry. Poetry is the perfect medium for communicating thoughts, ideas, opinions, and themes concisely and clearly. This modern blend of need and expression is embodied in the Epigram, a short and witty poem or saying. The Epigram is the only literary form that can exist fully in today's world of brief expressions, such as the 140 characters or less of social media. May you discover or rediscover the power of the Epigram and enjoy its unique ability to convey meaning in a clever and concise way. |
"It's been a while since I've read modern poetry, but I really enjoyed this book of poems. I, for whatever reason, am always skeptical of poetry being angsty and youthful which turns me off. This book of poetry was decidedly adult, mature, and in my humble opinion, "well done"."
